Project: Online Course for Education Degree Students, South Africa
Objective: To design and launch a scalable, pedagogically sound online course for pre-service teachers in South Africa. The goal was to transition core educational theory into an engaging digital format that modeled the same collaborative and reflective practices expected in modern classrooms.
My Role: Lead Instructional Designer & Project Lead
I owned the end-to-end development and deployment of this specialized course, from initial curriculum mapping to final implementation on the Moodle LMS, ensuring it met rigorous academic standards while remaining accessible and engaging for students.
Key Contributions & Strategic Approach:
Curriculum Architecture & Sequencing:
Analyzed learning outcomes to architect a coherent and scaffolded learning journey.
Structured the curriculum into five distinct core sections, creating a logical progression from foundational concepts to practical application, thereby building student confidence and competence systematically.
Instructional Design & Content Development:
Authored a comprehensive syllabus and detailed course outline to establish a clear contract for learning, outlining objectives, expectations, and a transparent pathway to success.
Developed meticulous, frame-by-frame storyboards that served as the master blueprint for the module, specifying all content, multimedia integrations, learner activities, and assessment points to ensure a cohesive and effective learning experience.
LMS Engineering & E-Learning Production:
Leveraged Moodle to engineer a fully realized digital classroom, designing and constructing all e-learning components—from interactive lesson pages and resource libraries to assignment submission hubs—within a single, intuitive interface.
Engagement & Assessment Strategy:
Cultivated a vibrant Community of Inquiry by establishing and facilitating asynchronous discussion forums. These were strategically designed to move beyond simple Q&A, instead stimulating critical thinking, reflective practice, and knowledge-sharing among future educators.
Designed a multi-faceted assessment strategy, including formative checks and a summative final project, to rigorously evaluate student mastery of the module's learning outcomes and provide actionable feedback.
