Project: Custom ESL Bachelor's Degree Online Course

Objective: To architect and launch a dynamic, fully online ESL course for Bachelor's Degree students, transitioning from a static curriculum to an interactive learning ecosystem that promotes language acquisition, critical thinking, and collaborative peer engagement.

My Role: Lead Instructional Designer & E-Learning Developer

I was entrusted with the end-to-end design, development, and implementation of this ESL module, leveraging a unique combination of pedagogical expertise and technical skill to build a seamless learning experience.

Key Responsibilities & Strategic Approach:

• Curriculum Architecture & Sequencing:

  • Conducted an analysis of learner needs and program outcomes to inform the course structure.

  • Designed a scaffolded learning journey by strategically segmenting the curriculum into seven distinct, progressive modules, ensuring a logical flow from foundational to advanced language concepts.

• Instructional Design & Documentation:

  • Authored a comprehensive syllabus and detailed course outline to establish clear learning objectives, expectations, and a roadmap for student success.

  • Developed meticulous, multi-level storyboards that served as the blueprint for the entire course, documenting all content, multimedia assets, interactive elements, and assessment strategies to ensure alignment and consistency.

• Technical Implementation & Platform Engineering:

  • Engineered a fully functional and visually coherent e-learning environment by customizing a WordPress site, demonstrating versatility beyond traditional Learning Management Systems (LMS).

  • Developed and integrated all digital learning components directly into the platform, creating a centralized hub for resources, activities, and student progress.

• Engagement & Assessment Strategy:

  • Fostered a dynamic learning community by integrating VoiceThread to power asynchronous discussion forums. This move beyond text-based forums enriched interaction through voice and video, significantly enhancing comprehension and building a more personal connection among peers.

  • Designed a robust assessment framework, including formative checks for understanding and a summative final exam, to effectively evaluate student mastery of the module's core learning objectives.
