Project Vision: To bridge the literacy gap by providing engaging, evidence-based resources that make learning to read an accessible and successful experience for every child.
Project Description:
"Sight of Me" is an original line of sight word books and companion reading programs meticulously designed to support foundational literacy. Born from a commitment to educational equity, these materials translate rigorous academic research into practical, child-centered learning tools. The program specifically targets the needs of K-8 students, English Language Learners (ELL), and struggling readers, using multi-sensory and cognitively-appropriate methods to build fluency, confidence, and a lifelong love of reading.
Key Design Principles & Methodology:
Audience-Centric Design: Every book and activity is crafted with the child's cognitive, linguistic, and motivational needs at the forefront.
Structured Literacy Approach: The program systematically introduces high-frequency sight words within a structured literacy framework to build automaticity and free up cognitive resources for comprehension.
Multi-Sensory Engagement: Incorporates techniques that engage visual, auditory, and kinesthetic pathways to reinforce memory and learning for diverse student populations.
Scaffolded Support: Materials are designed to provide gradual release of responsibility, moving learners from guided practice to independent reading mastery.
Cultural & Linguistic Responsiveness: The content and imagery are developed to be inclusive and relatable for a wide audience, including ELL students.
My Role: Founder, Author & Literacy Specialist. I conducted the educational research, authored the content, and designed the pedagogical framework for the entire "Sight of Me" product line.
