Role: Trainer/Workshop
Completion Timeframe: 2 hours
Material Developed: Presentation on Avoiding Bias
Tool Used: Google Drive
Objective: To design and deliver a compelling and impactful presentation that raises awareness of unconscious bias and provides service members with practical strategies to foster a more inclusive and effective operational environment.
My Role: Instructional Designer & Facilitator
I was responsible for the end-to-end creation and delivery of this critical training, from initial content development to facilitating meaningful group dialogue.
Key Contributions:
Content Architecture & Development:
Researched and synthesized complex concepts related to unconscious bias, tailoring the content to the unique context and chain-of-command structure of military service.
Crafted a detailed and logically sequenced presentation outline to ensure clarity, flow, and maximum retention of key concepts.
Engagement & Facilitation Strategy:
Authored a series of thought-provoking, scenario-based discussion questions to move the training beyond passive learning.
These questions were strategically designed to stimulate introspection, challenge assumptions, and encourage participants to connect the material to their real-world experiences and decision-making processes.
Outcome: The presentation successfully equipped service members with a heightened awareness of bias and a foundational toolkit for mitigating its effects in both interpersonal and operational settings.
